James Daga & Family

James Daga Albinson began his art studies at the School of Visual Arts, and continued his studies with Robert Armetta, Director and Founder of the Long Island Academy of Fine Art (LIAFA) where James was introduced to the principles and practices of Classical Atelier training. He brought those principles to the Stevenson Academy of Fine Art where he became Attila Hejja's apprentice, developed and refined his teaching skills, and became lead instructor and art director there.

With James's innovative class offerings and commitment to classical art training, the Stevenson Academy grew from 150 students to 325 within one year of James's arrival. James left the Stevenson Academy in 2008 to become Robert Armetta's partner and co-owner of LIAFA. Since then LIAFA has established itself as Long Island's leading art academy, bringing world renowned artists and educators to the population of Long Island.

James has been represented by Peter Marcelle at the prestigious Hampton Road Gallery in Southampton, New York where his work has been displayed alongside famed artists, Andrew and Jamie Wyeth. He is currently represented by Laura Grenning of the Grenning Gallery who has built an international reputation for introducing some of the most well-known classical realist painters in the world today.

James considers himself a lifelong student of art. He has opened his life and home to artists from around the world to paint, live and learn from each other. His passion for art and dedication to teaching are unparalleled; his energy and enthusiasm are contagious. He is a sought after artist and educator who resides in Sag Harbor, New York with his wife and two daughters.
